Starling Insights

Hello and welcome to Starling Insights. I'm PJ "Starling" Letourneau.

I offer tailored coaching and valuable resources for parents of autistic children. I am a PDA father to a PDA child, and a child of a neurodivergent family. I work to inspire families to embrace autism’s strengths and navigate its challenges wholeheartedly.

One of the big challenges we face as PDA families is to self-regulate and to co-regulate within our family system. So I focus on building practices for regulating your whole family. It all starts with holding space for how you as the parent are feeling right now, what challenges you're facing, and what resources you need. I work by holding non-judgemental space for you to explore your current emotional landscape, encouraging you to follow your intuition, and work together with you to envision your preferred future.

As a certified cannabis coach, I offer one-on-one guidance in using cannabinoid supplementation to support nervous system regulation. CBD supports our endocannabinoid system (ECS), and clinical research shows that autism is associated with compromised ECS function. So it is very worthwhile to investigate cannabinoids like CBD as a safe adjunct to your existing self-regulation practices.

Three pillars of support

Clinical research

Cannabinoid therapy is well supported by a solid foundation of clinical studies. I use the latest clinical research to develop modern nervous system support for autistic and PDA  people.

Gentle titration

We work together to find the most supportive cannabinoid protocol gradually over 12 weeks.

Holding space

As we work to restore regulation to the family system as a whole, it's important to have a safe container to process emotions like grief, sadness, anger, hope, joy, and renewal. This integration work is integral to the process of healing within the family system.

Testimonial

Tara I.

Working with PJ was very impactful for me. We met online, and I felt seen and heard during our sessions. He was attuned and held space with care, which helped me feel supported. PJ was also very patient and engaging with my children. I find trusting people with my children’s emotional safety to be challenging, but I easily trusted PJ. He is very authentic and truly cares for his clients. He gave me the space I needed to take in his guidance, and it helped my child come back to herself.

I found PJ after listening to him speak during a PDA North America webinar. I have  now been working with PJ  for approximately 6 months.  He truly cares about his clients and takes the time to listen as I discuss my son’s struggles, as well as my struggles as his mom, and works hard to fine tune the protocol to best fit what it is we are trying to improve; ie sleep, regulation, etc. I have seen improvements for sure and look forward to continuing to work with PJ!
